Something that has caused much controversy in the community of Burlington, VT is the chance of fighter planes called F35’s making their appearance and permanent stay at the Vermont National Guard and Burlington airport. The F35 fighter jets would be coming to Burlington to replace the current F16’s. The controversy surrounding the planes are basically that many residents are concerned about noise pollution especially those residents who live around the Burlington Airport in South Burlington. Not only are they afraid about more noise disrupting their everyday lives; they are also starting to worry about their properties declining in value because of the increased noise. There is also the argument about how much money these planes are going to cost the town, which seems to be more than 1 trillion dollars! Something that I found interesting was the amount of people that are for the F35s, including the Mayor, Miro Weinberger and Gov. Peter Shumlin. There are also many other people that are for having the F35s in town. Their reasons are that the F35s are much safer than the F16s and that there are many other benefits that involve the airport. Many people actually say that the F35s would be less noise than the F16. The other big opportunity that comes with the F35s is more jobs in and around Burlington, especially within the airport and National Guard. I believe that the F35s would be good for the community, especially because of the inflow of jobs that would come out of having these fighter planes here.

F-35 IN BVT?

Medieval Sermon
This week in class, the main thing that I learned was how to write in a Medieval Sermon style of writing. This style seems more detailed and also includes the exemplum and peroration, which we learned about last week. The exemplum is an example that helps you prove a point and the peroration is the conclusion used to end the argument.

Greetings from Mount Philo!
A state park located in Charlotte, Vermont. The
168-acre park protects the area around Mount Philo about 968 feet in elevation
and provides views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains to the west.
The Green Mountains including Camel's Hump in the winter can be seen to the
east and south. It is accessed by trail or steep narrow seasonal car road.
This week i learned how to use an exemplum, an anecdote or short narrative used to point a moral or sustain an argument.

The whole Creative Suite is absolutely awesome! The best thing is that Adobe programs, is how they are integrated as a suite. Trying not to drift into the other programs besides Photoshop, I will say that InDesign is the best desktop publishing program that I have ever worked with. Particularly in InDesign, there’s improvements such as the redesigned Links panel, Smart Guides, the ability to place multiple graphics as a contact sheet and much more!

Photoshop
I cant wait to start using Photoshop. For the ultimate in graphics power and flexibility, Photoshop can't be beat. Photoshop offers more non-destructive ways of working than any other photo editor, and Adobe is always adding enhancements to help get the job done faster and with less frustration.

Inverted Pyramid Structure
For decades,
the “inverted pyramid” structure has been a mainstay of traditional mass media
writing. Following this structure, the “base” of the pyramid—the most
fundamental facts—appear at the top of the story, in the lead paragraph.
Non-essential information appears in the following paragraphs, or “nut” graphs,
in order of importance.
While some media
writers are critical of the inverted pyramid structure, it remains one of the
most widely used and time tested structures in mass media writing.
